Our company history

The Gibson upholstery story starts before the war. Upholsterer George Pearsall married Blanch Gibson. After serving in the Household Cavalry in Burma during the war, George set up his own upholstery shop in a bomb-damaged pub in Vauxhall, Birmingham in 1946.
He was joined by Peter Gibson Snr., his nephew in 1951 as his apprentice.
He was later also joined by his own son, young George as an apprentice.
in 1960 Peter Gibson Snr. married and moved to Coventry and set up his own upholstery shop in Waverley Road, Spon End.
He moved his shop to Far Gosford Street where he was joined by his own son, Peter Gibson Jnr. in 1984.
They moved their workshop back to Spon End in the Arches Industrial estate in 1998, where they are still trading from today.
